The local ski area offers approximately 30 km of groomed slopes, which are ideal for both recreational skiers and families with children.
The area is also renowned for its network of groomed cross-country trails, which wind through snow-covered meadows and forests with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The sunny plateau at the foot of the Tennengebirge massif offers breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and vast Alpine meadows.
The summer months here are primarily devoted to hiking and cycling. Dozens of kilometers of marked trails lead through mountain pastures, forests, and panoramic ridges with views of the Hochkönig and the surrounding Alpine massifs. E-bike tours are also very popular, allowing visitors to comfortably explore even the more remote mountain huts and viewpoints.
Werfenweng is one of the most famous places in Austria for paragliding. Thanks to favorable thermal conditions and beautiful views of the Tennengebirge and Hochkönig mountains, it is one of the most attractive spots in the whole land of Salzburg.

Salzburg—a beautiful historic city and the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart—and the German town of Berchtesgaden are also worth a visit in their own right. Both of these destinations are easily accessible from Werfenweng, with the journey taking just 45 minutes.
