The renowned spa town of Bad Gastein looks at first glance like a scene from a movie. Nestled beneath the imposing peaks of the Hohe Tauern and spread across the steep slopes of the Gastein Valley, it is set on both sides of the Gasteiner Ache river with its famous waterfall. However, instead of the typical alpine chalets, you’ll find grand historic hotels and opulent spa buildings – silent witnesses of a golden era when royalty, celebrated actors, and distinguished guests came here in search of luxurious holidays and health treatments.
In recent decades, the Gastein Valley experienced a decline in traditional spa tourism, but thanks to the rise of skiing and hiking it has reinvented itself as a year-round destination. Today, the valley offers a unique combination of modern ski resorts and thermal spas, all within easy reach of charming towns and villages that provide a full range of restaurants, bars, shops, and leisure attractions.

All of the apartments presented here are intended for tourist rental.
Their operation is managed by a well-established local agency that oversees a total of 16 hotel resorts and apartment complexes across the Ski Amadé region and other leading ski destinations in the Austrian Alps.
As is customary in Austria, the operator takes care of:
A professional property maintenance company manages the settlement of operating costs, facility management and repairs of both common areas and individual apartments.
Owners have the option to use their apartments for up to 6 weeks per year for personal stays (or for renting them out independently if they wish).
The accommodation facilities where the apartments are located, are fully operational. They are all located right in the heart of Bad Gastein, within walking distance of the Felsentherme thermal spa as well as the ski areas SkiGastein and Graukogel.
The Gastein Valley is renowned as an excellent skiing area with a total of four large resorts offering more than 200 kilometers of groomed slopes.
Snowboarding enthusiasts will appreciate Sportgastein, a freeriding paradise with guaranteed snow until the end of April. Experienced skiers will enjoy Graukogel with its challenging slopes in the unique atmosphere of a pine forest. Dorfgastein, with its gentle long runs, children's parks, and cozy mountain huts, is ideal for families and beginner skiers. And for everyone there is SkiGastein - the largest interconnected resort with a varied selection of slopes of all difficulty levels and the Stubnerkogel peak with the highest suspension bridge in Europe, offering a magnificent view of the nearby Grossglockner. Lower stations of the Graukogel and SkiGastein cable cars are located directly in Bad Gastein. Ski buses run continuously between the individual resorts, providing quick and convenient transport to the remaining resorts.
For cross-country skiing enthusiasts, there is the Achenloipe circuit in Bad Hofgastein and, above all, the Nassfelder Runde in Sportgastein, at an altitude of 1,600 meters above sea level.
Other winter activities include romantic sleigh rides, snowshoeing, and festivals such as Snow Jazz and Art on Snow, where nature is transformed into a gallery of snow art.
And there is nothing better than ending a day of winter fun in the renowned Felsentherme or Alpentherme spas, with thermal pools, saunas, and relaxation areas.
When the snow melts, the Gastein Valley turns into a paradise for nature lovers and active vacationers. There are more than 600 km of marked hiking trails, from leisurely walks through the valley to high-altitude hikes in the Hohe Tauern National Park.
Cycle paths lead through picturesque villages and along challenging mountain trails – from family trips on e-bikes to challenges for mountain bikes and single-track trails.
Golfers can play on the 18-hole Gastein Golf Club course with panoramic views of the Alpine peaks.
Adrenaline junkies will appreciate the local via ferrata routes, suspension bridges, and trail running. Those seeking peace and relaxation can stroll through picturesque side valleys with countless mountain huts, visit spas, or enjoy gastronomic experiences. In summer, the cultural scene also comes to life – the sommer.frische.kunst festival brings art, music and creativity directly to the historic backdrop of the town. Whether you are looking for adrenaline or relaxation, the Gastein Valley has something for everyone in summer.
Another great advantage is the Tauern Railway Tunnel, located at the end of the valley, less than 5 kilometers from Bad Gastein. Thanks to the car train, which runs every hour between Böckstein and Mallnitz, you can quickly and comfortably reach Carinthian gems such as Lake Weissensee or the Mölltal Glacier with its famous ski area.
